two assistant deputies;one report
When I went to Agriculture the assistant deputy was an acting deputy minister. He was not a permanent deputy. So in effect there were two assistant deputies- me and him.
When I joined I had been given a $6000 bump in salary.I was just below a director-general's salary but I got a raise of about $2000 and was now in a director-general's pay range.I was told that I would get another increase in my eleventh month on the job. That would bring me just below or at the bottom of an assistant deputies pay range. This was coming.
I could speculate that the other assistant was working on a report just like mine once it was announced that the report would go to the Sub-Committee on Agriculture. He might have even gotten a few pointers from my report, you never know.
It was after I got my pay raise that the acting deputy's secretary told me there would be a branch meeting announcing the fact that I was going to be appointed assistant deputy.Likely the P.S.C was pulling the strings. The problem was a director-general was to make the announcement and I was making as much as him.So no announcement. Then there was supposed to be an announcement that I was appointed director-general immediately and assistant deputy later. This would take the pressure off the acting deputy. In fact, nothing the acting deputy's secretary said came true.In two months my new pay raise would be in so the director wanted to evaluate my report for the director-general. He really took the bull by the horns. He in effect fired me one month before my new pay would be in for "doing absolutely nothing new".The work had already been done. Now the acting deputy would have my report and could take it to the Sub -Committee.I got fired because my report wasn't good enough but in fact I think the acting deputy liked mine better because I know that it was my report that went to the Sub-Committee.send comments here for business consulting problems
